Dental hygiene or oral hygiene is an important part of anyone’s daily routine and should be done every day. It is the practice of keeping your mouth clean and free of disease. You do this by regular brushing and cleaning in between the teeth.
It is also best practice to floss every day as well as brushing your teeth.
It is important that oral hygiene is completed on a regular basis, as it can prevent dental disease from occurring.
How do you know if you have good Dental Hygiene?
Good oral hygiene results in a mouth that looks and smells healthy. But what does this actually mean and what does this look like?
You should be looking for the following signs:
- your teeth are clean and free of debris
- gums are pink and do not hurt or bleed when you brush or floss
- bad breath is not a constant problem
If your gums do hurt or bleed while brushing or flossing, or you are experiencing persistent bad breath, any of these conditions may indicate a problem.
